As part of its ongoing ambitious growth plan, Leaders Romans Group (LRG) has acquired Gibbs Gillespie, a leading independent estate agency group. This move represents LRG’s largest acquisition to date.
The business has operated since 1991 and has 13 branches across Middlesex, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. All locations, with the exception of Amersham and Gerrards Cross, are within the M25.
A strong name in the industry, Gibbs Gillespie is widely respected, and is the market leader in the majority of the locations it trades in. It is therefore LRG’s intention to maintain the Gibbs Gillespie name, and grow it further across neighbouring areas. In Uxbridge and Gerrards Cross, where Romans already trades, LRG will trade under both brands.
The business was previously owned by James Gibbs and Paul Gillespie, who will step away from the business following a transition period. All 144 full-time and 49 weekend staff will transfer with the business and retain their current positions. Throughout the transaction, Gibbs Gillespie was advised by Accelve.
Paul Gillespie comments: “We are proud to have served our local area with market-leading property advice for over 30 years. We launched Gibbs Gillespie to set the new standard for property agents, and we are confident it will continue to do so under the LRG umbrella. There is an exciting future ahead for the business.”
James Gibbs said: “ I have always admired Leaders Romans Group and realised many years ago how similar we are. I am confident the joining of Gibbs Gillespie and LRG will be a formula for an impressive and formidable group.”
Matthew Light, Group Mergers and Acquisitions Director at LRG, comments: “We are pleased to be welcoming Gibbs Gillespie into the growing LRG family. The founders have built a fantastic business that serves the local area and community as a highly reputable provider of property and financial advice. Adding almost 200 employees who know the area inside out is a huge benefit for LRG as it expands inside the M25.”
Kevin Shaw, Group Managing Director of the Estate Agency Division at LRG, adds: “I am delighted to welcome a brilliant sales business into the group, which will further enhance our rapid growth and network. Our ‘keeping it local’ ethos aligns perfectly with what Gibbs Gillespie stands for, and I look forward to working with the great people that are joining LRG from the business!”
2021 has got off to a flying start for LRG, with three acquisitions so far, and there is more to come as LRG continues its growth across the UK.
