Leaders Romans Group (LRG) marked the conclusion of 2024 with a significant array of achievements across its environmental, social, and governance objectives (ESG). The organisation has demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship, community well-being, and corporate responsibility through impactful initiatives and measurable progress.
In 2024, LRG retained its carbon-neutral status for the second consecutive year, eight years ahead of its 2030 target. This ongoing success reflects the Group’s strategic investments in renewable energy, energy-efficient branch upgrades, and carbon offset programmes that reduce emissions across its operations.
LRG’s partnership with Green the UK delivered substantial environmental benefits throughout the year. The planting of 1,700 climate-resilient trees brought the total to over 32,000 trees planted since the partnership began, supporting carbon sequestration and local biodiversity. Additionally, eight wildflower gardens were established in schools in Oxford and Cardiff, creating vital habitats for pollinators and offering educational opportunities for students. Marine restoration projects, including oyster reef and kelp forest recovery, further demonstrated LRG’s dedication to enhancing biodiversity in the UK’s natural ecosystems.
Sustainability extended to the physical footprint of the business, with the unveiling of sustainable offices in Guildford, Maidenhead, Sovereign Harbour (Eastbourne), and Pinner (north west London). These offices feature renewable energy, low-VOC materials, FSC-certified wood, and circular carpets made from recycled content. By integrating these principles, the Group reduced its environmental impact while setting a benchmark for eco-friendly operations in the property sector.
Social responsibility remained at the heart of LRG’s strategy. The EmpowerHER programme, launched on International Women’s Day, provided seminars on key topics such as imposter syndrome, unconscious bias, and prioritisation. This initiative has empowered women within the organisation to step into leadership roles and shaped a more inclusive workplace culture. The Group also expanded its network of mental health first aiders to 29, ensuring employees have access to active support when needed.
LRG also concluded its two-year partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, raising over £38,000. This community-focused initiative was complemented by events such as the Boyer Charity Quiz Night, which raised £17,000 for the Trussell Trust and ABC Book Club, reinforcing the Group’s commitment to supporting local causes.
Governance improvements were a key feature of 2024. LRG was awarded ESG Assessed status by Sustainable Advantage following its December 2023 audit. New initiatives included the implementation of a Supplier Code of Conduct, a comprehensive Climate Risk and Opportunities Report, and an enhanced technology governance framework, ensuring robust oversight across the organisation.
David Wilson, Group COO, Leaders Romans Group, commented: “2024 has been a defining year for LRG, with sustainability, social impact, and governance at the forefront of our operations. From achieving carbon neutrality to fostering biodiversity and supporting our employees, the Group remains dedicated to creating meaningful, lasting change.”
Looking ahead, Leaders Romans Group is committed to building on the progress made in 2024, delivering further innovations in sustainability, biodiversity, and community engagement.
